In this guide, I will show you step by step how to replace the Rockbox boot logo on your iPod Mini. The process should be similar for other iPods and devices that support Rockbox.

Make sure to read the instructions first.

Requirements.

Instructions.

  1. Open LogoSwapper
  2. Under the "Screen category" label, select "4-grey - iPod Mini, 3g, 4g".
  3. Load the Rockbox binary file. You can find this file (rockbox.ipod) inside the ".rockbox" folder located in the root directory of your iPod Mini when connected to your computer
    • If you're in Mac or Linux, enable hidden files to find the .rockbox folder
  4. Click the "Target Image" box and select the original bitmap logo you download earlier.
  5. Click the "New Image" box and select the new bitmap logo you want to swap in. Remember, it must be the same size, format and color type as the original logo
  6. Click the "Swap!" button
  7. If successful, a "REPLACEMENT MADE" message will appear in the message box
  8. Browse the ".rockbox" folder from your iPod Mini once again. You will find a new file named "rockbox_swap.ipod" which contains the binary file with the swapped logo, you will need to rename it to "rockbox.ipod", but first, rename the original binary to something similar to "oldrockbox.ipod" in case you want to revert the logo change
  9. Reboot your iPod Mini to see your new boot logo
